The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Sunbury
Sunbury's Fight Against Blight
The City of Sunbury established the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Sunbury (otherwise known as the “Sunbury Redevelopment Authority") by Resolution on September 7, 1965 under the Urban Redevelopment Law, 35 P.S. 1701, as amended. The Sunbury Redevelopment Authority, in partnership with the City of Sunbury, strives to revitalize and mitigate blight in Sunbury, Pennsylvania.

Since 2009, the City of Sunbury and the Sunbury Redevelopment Authority have worked together to acquire and sell more than 65 vacant, abandoned, and blighted properties through the eminent domain process, returning these properties to the tax rolls.  All proceeds from the public auction of these properties return to the Sunbury Redevelopment Authority blight removal program to be used for the next round of blighted properties.

Today, the following Board Members
oversee the efforts of the Sunbury Redevelopment Authority:
Aimee Buehner, Co-Chair & Treasurer
Clay Rowe, Co-Chair & Secretary
Jeff Balestrini, Vice-Chair
Adam C. Purdy, Member
David L. Persing, Member

“The success of the Sunbury Redevelopment Authority is the result of a collaborative effort between the Sunbury Redevelopment Authority and City of Sunbury Officials, including the Mayor and his office, City Council and the City Code Department, as well as Seda Council of Governments and the Housing Authority of Northumberland County (through their Keystone Grant Program). Our process of identifying, acquiring, and re-purposing blighted properties has a number of positive impacts within the community by way of removing the blight, improving safety in and around the blighted property, increased property values to surrounding neighbors, and increased tax revenue for the City.”
Adam C. Purdy, Immediate Past Chair
